When Builders Meet Invaders

A woodpecker spends days carving a home. A pair of starlings spend the morning trying to take it. One long standoff at a single old tree, and a heartbreaking end.

A field account, photographed over several hours at one nest tree.

The Photographer

Photography, for me, has never been about collecting images. It has always been about collecting experiences.

I am Kumar Nigam, an Indian wildlife, bird, landscape, and astrophotography photographer driven by a deep curiosity for the natural world. My work is built on patience, ethical fieldcraft, and the belief that nature reveals its finest moments only to those willing to slow down and observe. Every photograph on this website was created in the wild, allowing nature to dictate the encounter rather than the photographer.
